Illustrating texts is everyday work for an illustrator and the way you approach the text differs in many ways. In which different ways can an entire book, a paragraph, a sentence or just a word open up the creative gates to an image?
In my degree project I investigate the relationship between illustration and text.
I have used text as support for the images I create, but the image does not necessarily need the text in order to tell a story. How do I go from the text into my own visual world and what happens when text and image meets? Can you remove the text from the image and thus create new interpretations? How do I capture mood and events from a text and translate it into an image?
Att göra bild till text är vardag för en illustratör, och hur man förhåller sig till text kan se ut på många olika sätt. På vilka sätt kan en hel bok, ett stycke, en mening eller bara ett ord ge en ingång till bild?
I mitt examensarbete undersöker jag illustration i förhållande till text.
Jag har utgått från text som stöd för mitt bildskapande, men där bilden inte nödvändigtvis behöver texten för att berätta. Hur går jag från texten in i min egen bildvärld och vad händer i mötet mellan text och bild? Kan man ta bort texten från bilden och på så sätt skapa nya tolkningar? Hur fångar jag stämning och handling från en text och översätter det till bild?
